Shinfield

These proposals would involve reducing the speed limit to 30mph on School Road, A327 Reading Road, Hollow Lane and on A327 Shinfield Road. Outside Crossfields School the speed limit would be reduced to 20mph. Along the route a segregated cycle track running in both directions would be created by taking space from grass verges, removing central hatching/turning pockets and narrowing the carriageway.

Larger junctions would be redesigned to separate cycles from turning traffic using traffic lights or roundabouts with a segregated cycle track. Pedestrian crossings at these junctions will also be simplified where possible, with wait times reduced. At smaller junctions the kerb would be built-out to reduce crossing distances and slow turning vehicles.
