Oxford Road

This proposal presents recommendations in four stages. Firstly along Wellington Road, speed limits should be reduced to 20mph, and reallocation of space should be considered to create a segregated cycle track. Secondly on Station Road, vegetation should be better maintained, and road space should be reallocated to increase the footway width and accommodate bus stop shelter and seating.

Thirdly on Station Approach, roadspace should be reclaimed to widen the footway and continue the footway level cycle track. Finally, through Oxford Road side road entrances should be improved and a zebra crossing created on the Oxford Road / Mount Pleasant junction. Surface improvements are required along Mount Pleasant, and accessibility and attractiveness improvements should be made over the railway bridge and through St Paul’s Church grounds.
