Church Road

These proposals would involve reducing the speed limit on Church Road to 20mph. Footways would be widened to a minimum of 1.5m along the entire route, taking space from grass verges and the carriageway. Where width is available a segregated cycle track would be considered, otherwise on other sections we would consider shared use paths for both pedestrians and cyclists.

Larger junctions would be redesigned to separate cycles from turning traffic using traffic lights. Pedestrian crossings at these junctions will also be simplified where possible, to allow crossing in a single stage. At smaller junctions the kerb would be built-out to reduce crossing distances and slow turning vehicles.
